Mother Hunting (Miracle of a Rose)

Norwegian Theatre Academy at Østfold University College presents:

MOTHER HUNTING (MIRACLE OF A ROSE)

Written and directed by Bianca Casady (CocoRosie). Co-created with the 3rd year acting students and the 3rd year scenography students at NTA

"Ain't nothing but whores, cops, clowns, widows, orphans and maids.

An orphan is sold by her mother to become a servant to a mean rich woman with an obsession for plastic surgery. The maids perform nightly surgeries on the vain boss. A revengeful plot against the rich woman leads to the orphan's escape and ultimately initiates her descent to a criminal life on the streets. In a parallel world a little girl receives magic red shoes and runs away from her deranged father becoming a clown and a prostitute. Eventually realizing her likeness to her father, she embraces her own lunacy. "He may have turned me away from magic, but not away from madness." The characters sing and dance their way through different realms, time traveling into fading memories. It's hard to tell from who's dream this world emerges, who is the dreamer and who is being dreamt."

Bianca casady & The C.I.A.

Bianca Casady & The C.I.A.

In her new solo project CocoRosie’s Bianca Casady puts on stage wonderfully spun songs - with a band, dancer and video.

With her sister Sierra and common band CocoRosie Bianca Casady has created a great surreal Pop-Art-World. In addition to worldwide acclaimed albums and concerts CocoRosie have premiered the dance piece "Night Shift - A Feeble Ballet" in 2012 at Kampnagel and have since implemented two theater projects with Robert Wilson. Now - after several solo projects - Bianca Casady once more steps out of the familiar CocoRosie context to gather long time partners (The C.i.A.) for a musical-performance project. Together with dancer Bino Sauitzvy, video artist Jean Marc Ruellan and musicians Lacy Lancaster, Takuya Nakamura and Doug Wieselman she brings new songs to the stage, to be released in autumn also as an album. Casady designs a mysterious and suggestive parallel world starting from an untuned piano, a dusty typewriter and stacks of poems. Her songs are performative gems from a strange music Wonderland, which can now be experienced in a concert performance. After the world premiere at the Summer Festival this show will head to David Byrne's Melt Down Festival and the Pop-Kultur Festival in Berlin’s Berghain among others
